Johnson Hanging Cages

12 inch Diameter
These traditional Hanging Flight cages are used for emerging, flying, demonstrating, pairing and insect egg-laying, especially with Lepidoptera. Light potted plants may be hung with the cage. When fitted with support rods so that they are self-standing on a floor or table, they can also be used where hanging may be inconvenient - in classrooms for example. Using support rods removes all net creases for a particularly neat appearance and, when placed on a surface, allows heavier plant pots or jars to be placed in the cage.
Because they are lightweight and portable, these cages are useful also for travel, as temporary accommodation for a wide range of insects on cut plants placed inside the cage.
The fine high transparency black net is sewn with no internal projecting seams, and the cages are specially designed to hang with near vertical sides with the minimum 'necking', which would otherwise tend to trap insects at the upper corners.

All cages are fitted with a vertical entry zip.
